How do I Work?

November 20, 2011

Sitting in Bible study at church getting ready to start, thinking about the works. Thought is it fixed works and I should just schedule myself to do things? Or is it just everyday random works God brings into my life? Feels like I just don't do any work compared to all of the great things other Christians are doing in the church. I feel God speaking to me on a lot of things, but never I should do this or that.

Maybe God thinks I got my hands full, or just can't do that much is more likely the case. Anyway, I had just sat down in the room to study (first one there), and a woman came walking into the main church hallway speaking out loudly asking if anyone was there. I went and met her, and she said she needed gas money. I only had $8 cash on me, so I gave it to her, and she went on her way.

Part of me wonders, is she just taking advantage of Christians? Said she has stopped in there before needing money to get a few towns away to see either her kids or grandkids. I tend to be pessimistic about people, which also keeps me from being charitable or doing work. Anyway, I decided that

I needed to start carrying more cash on me, in case I see someone in need and God moves me to help them.

Never really answered my question on works directly, but it feels like it should be both, always ready to do random work (i.e., charity), but also to schedule myself. Have never felt like should schedule myself though. I did schedule myself to open/close church for about 3 years, but I did not view that as a work for others, it was for myself to keep me going to church. I know I tend to drift away, and that would keep me going which would keep me in the word, and help me follow God's will for me and my family.

Need to do a study on works, and insert verse references.

Thank You, God, for the blessings in life.
