Saying to a stock, Thou art my father; and to a stone, Thou hast brought me forth: for they have turned their back unto me, and not their face: but in the time of their trouble they will say, Arise, and save us. (Jeremiah 2:27).
Late night time to read scriptures. Just getting home from trip to Arkansas, and decide to open dad's (deceased) bible mom let me have for awhile. Thought it would be interesting to see what he meditated on, marked up many years ago.
Open up to Jeremiah 2:27 and see the words that God showed me nearly 15 years ago that led me to faith in Christ work on the cross. Words that showed me my need for a saviour, words that I will always remember. Words that when spoken to me I felt my sin before the sentence finished. The only words my heart would hear.
The words that broke the hardness of my heart. The words "I was your friend Mike, and you turned your back on me." So now reading this verse, seeing my dads highlight of this scripture from so long ago, I am forever grateful for the presence of God in my life, and my family.
Thank you, God for thy words to me. When I was heading down my own path, my way. My path following a God I had created in my own image, a God that agreed with my beliefs that I wanted. A God that I had turned from, from his ways to a more convenient my way. Thank you for sending thy son to die and make a way for all of us. In Jesus Name Amen.
