He Saw You, Did You See Him?

Meditating on the moment when I felt God say to me, "...when thou was under the fig tree, I saw thee."(John 1:48). When I was praying under the dining table, feeling God opening scriptures to me, showing me the spiritual battles he has already won. When my body was exhausted, I couldn't stop reading and meditating on His Word. It wasn't until about 2 am that I needed to sleep so I could get up at 530 for work. When he showed me all my prayers, how he saw me. He showed me my prayers past few years, specific prayers, where I was, and what was in my heart when I prayed. Prayers I had forgotten. All came to me at once.
What struck me was the one prayer, pleading with God where I wept for my family. That prayer was shown to me as someone standing right there, looking down at me. It wasn't my viewpoint; it was someone else.
Why didn't I see him? When we read about the disciples on the road to Emmaus, where they didn't recognize they were talking with Jesus, we have a hard time understanding how they could not know it was him. To me, it was when I didn't hear God's response for weeks; I didn't see Christ standing there, just listening. Do we mistake God's listening for absence?
Praise God for listening to prayers.
